Prominent Professor Faces Racism in Cambridge

Henry Louis Gates is a prominent scholar in African American Studies at Harvard University.  You've probably seen him on PBS presenting various documentaries on race in America.  

Yesterday, Gates was arrested at his own home for breaking into his own home AFTER showing the police two forms of identification proving that he lived there.  It is incidents like these which lay bare the racism that continues in this country.  Gates's story is front page news because of his prominent position, but incidents like this are all too common despite some people's insistence that we live in a "post-racial" society.
