Thurs, 4/29, ISO Meeting: "Shame on Arizona - No One is Illegal!"

Thurs, April 29, 7pm
Haymarket People's Fund
42 Seaverns St, Jamaica Plain

On April 23, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1070. This racist, draconian law is the harshest immigration law ever adopted in the United States. It forces Arizona law enforcement to racially profile people who are "suspected" of being undocumented, thereby forcing all people who "look" like immigrants to carry identification papers. We need to demand an end to racial profiling - no one is illegal.

Already this year, we have seen 200,000 people march in Washington to demand immigration reform; Obama has verbally come out against the passage of SB 1070 in Arizona; students have protested and engaged in civil disobedience across Arizona; calls have been put out to boycott Arizona products and sports teams; and even some truckers are boycotting deliveries to and from Arizona.

Join the International Socialist Organization for a discussion about what the law is, as well as the significance of its passage. Also, join us in our May festivities - both participating in the two immigrant rights marches on May 1st and our May Day Party that evening!

Agenda:

1. The attack on immigrants and a revival in fightback - 45 min
