Thurs, 11/18, ISO Study Group, "Discussion on 'Slavery & the Origins of Racism'"

7pm, Haymarket People’s Fund, 42 Seaverns Ave, JP (map)

"If racism is part of human nature, then socialists have a real challenge on their hands. If racism is hard-wired into human biology, then we should despair of workers ever overcoming the divisions between them to fight for a socialist society free of racial inequality. Fortunately, racism isn't part of human nature. The best evidence for this assertion is the fact that racism has not always existed" (Lance Selfa from Slavery & the Origins of Racism)

Join the Boston Branch of the International Socialist Organization this Thursday for a discussion on slavery and the origins of racism. We will be discussing in depth Lance Selfa's piece, "Slavery and the Origins of Racism" from the International Socialist Review, as a means of preparing for our BLACK LIBERATION & SOCIALISM CONFERENCE this Saturday, November 20th at UMass Boston.
