THIS THURS 9/1: "Lenin and the Revolutionary Party" Day School- Part I

2011 has already come to be a year of crisis and resistance. From Egypt to England, protests, strikes, rebellions, and revolutions have ripped across the globe bringing down U.S. backed dictatorships and posing a challenge to a system based on endless austerity, inequality, wars, and oppression. A new generation of working class and oppressed people are coming to recognize that capitalism is failing to meet human need and as a result has sparked a renewed interest in the politics of revolutionary socialism amongst a growing minority.

But if working class revolution and socialism are our goals, the how do we get there? What kind of organization do we need to build in the here and now to contribute to that process? The ISO stands in the tradition of Russian revolutionary V.I. Lenin- that radicals and revolutionaries need to work toward building a mass revolutionary vanguard party of the most radical and class conscious rooted in the struggles of the present that can work toward advancing them to radically transforming society in the future.

Though the ideas of "Leninism" and the "vanguard party" have become highly controversial and distorted issues- by both the Left and Right-in American politics, we think they've become more important now then ever before as an era of crisis and resistance have been reborn.

So please, come join the Boston ISO in an examination and discussion of the history of the Bolshevik party in Russia, the Russian Revolution, and the role that the evolution of Lenin's theory of the vanguard party played in that process- and most importantly what it means for revolutionaries today.
